Tori Amos began her musical career as the lead singer for the synthpop band Y Kant Tori Read, but after the band failed to reach commercial success she launched her career as a solo artist in 1990. Since then she has released 14 studio albums and has sold over 12 million records worldwide, a major feat for the eight-time Grammy Award-nominated singer. A North Carolina Music Hall of Fame inductee, Amos is recognized for her virtuosic piano playing and her ability to interact with fans during her impressive performances. Not only is she a dynamic performer, but an overall creative genius, pursuing other ventures including a classical music project, an award-nominated musical titled The Light Princess, and a co-authored autobiography, Piece By Piece.
